Once upon a time Ellen and I were immersed in the Harley culture (as in the Harley-Davidson “loud pipes save lives” motorcycles). I learned a lot about relationships. If you had a bike (H-D of course), you were in. Nothing else seemed to matter; this was a very inclusive group … as long as you rode up on, yes, a Harley. One of the things we learned right away about the Harley culture is that conversations were always preoccupied with, you guessed it, Harleys. These friends never tired of talking about their two wheeled chrome filled steeds.

This Sunday you’re invited as Eastside gathers at 9:30am and 11:00am to continue our Faith on Fire series. A.W. Tozer said, “Worship is an everlasting preoccupation with God.” Why is it then that some of us can talk all night about our Harleys, our teams, our candidates, our music, our kids (grandkids) … but we are so hesitant to talk about a God of unfailing love?

This Sunday we unpack a wonderfully challenging passage of scripture (Hebrews 12:18-29) on “Faith on Fire … Faith that Fills Life with Worship”. We have some real life questions in front of us … Do we live afraid of God or drawn to God, and why? How does listening to God shake the clutter out of our lives? How and why do we give praise to the things in life we enjoy the most?

Well, we sold the Harley to raise money to start an adventure called Eastside, so we will have to ride to church Sunday morning on four wheels. But if you come in and want to talk Harleys I would love to partake. And better yet, if you want to come in and talk Jesus … that’s even better!

We hope you will join us.
